A group of developers from the Human Media Lab at Queen ’s University , in Canada , has developed a cylindric display system — called the “ TeleHuman”—that is capable of projecting within itself a person ’s full 3 - dimensional figure . circulate the TeleHuman , and you will see your long - distance fan ( or perhaps just your best friend ) from all 360 degrees .
A total of 10 Kinect sensors are used to capture the 3D images as the looker circumnavigates the display — six on top of the TeleHuman ’s tubular torso , and four addition sensors rank at strategic vantage points around the elbow room it is housed in .
There are still some kinks to be worked out , but TeleHuman is well on its agency to play Star Wars holographical technology to compensate into your very own household . [ DVice ]
