In this wanton adaptation , Master Legend , a.k.a Frank ( John Hawkes ) , exist in Las Vegas ( instead of Orlando ) and spends his nights helping hoi polloi on The Strip . Hawkes is pitch - stark in this office … even if the long black wig is noticeably false . Frank is a diehard optimist , believe wholeheartedly in the work that he ’s doing , but you’re able to see the cracks growing in the veneering . Frank has dedicate so much of his lifespan to Master Legend that he ’s afraid of what would materialise if the mask was taken off .

At one degree , right before Frank unsuccessfully tries to convince Tana they should get back together , he ’s standing in her kitchen , in his superhero suit , holding a bag of groceries .
