A few weeks after Pratt popped the question toKatherine Schwarzenegger, theTerminatoractor sat down for an interview onExtrawithMario Lopezwhen he revealed his thoughts on his future son-in-law for the very first time.
“That was really fantastic. She is so happy, they both are so happy,” Arnold, 71, said of the couple’s engagement in theinterview sharedon Thursday. “As I said to him, he is such a likable guy. I love Chris — he’s fantastic.”
The former bodybuilder went on to reveal that Pratt, 39, asked for his blessing in the “traditional way” before proposing to Katherine, 29.
“He’s a wonderful guy,” Arnold added. “They both look really great together, they’re both happy together, so I wish them both the best of luck.”
It’s no surprise that Arnold has welcomed Pratt into the family with open arms. Years beforeThe Guardians of the Galaxyactor proposed to Arnold’s daughter, he was becoming fast friends with his future father-in-law in 2015.
That year, right after the release ofJurassic World,James CordenofThe Late Late Showshared a picture of a wall that Pratt had signed. He couldn’t help but express his excitement about writing his name next to the legendary bodybuilder.

“Right next to FRIGGIN’ ARNOLD!” theParks and Recreationalum wrote.
After seeing the image, Arnold followed up with his own supportive tweet: “I’m right next to friggin’CHRIS PRATT. Congrats on the monster opening weekend, @prattprattpratt. You deserve it.”
Pratt and Schwarzeneggerannounced their engagementearlier this month, following a whirlwind romance that saw themfall for each other over the summer.
Though the pair — who met through Katherine’s mother,Maria Shriver— have only been together since June, things heated up rather quickly.
“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!” Pratt captioned an Instagram photo of himself cuddling up to his wife-to-be, whose engagement ring was front and center.

Joining her fiancé, Katherineshared the happy newson her Instagram.
“My sweet love. Wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone but you,” she wrote in the caption alongside a red heart emoji and a ring emoji.
A source previously told PEOPLE that the couple has sincemoved in together.
