New England Patriots coachBill Belichickand his longtime girlfriend, Linda Holliday, have split after their “relationship ran its course,” a source tells PEOPLE.
Belichick, 71, and Holliday, 60, had been dating since 2007, but according to the source, the couple has “been pretty separate for a while.”
The insider adds that the problem in the couple’s relationship ultimately leading to their split is “not new.”
“Bill is all about football and very busy now. He doesn’t want a lot of public attention on this," the source tells PEOPLE.
With the NFL season having just kicked off, Belichick “has a lot on his plate, a good family, and he meets people all of the time," according to the insider.
Representatives for Belichick and Holliday did not respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.

Holliday is the President of the Bill Belichick Foundation, which has apparently made her split with Belichick more complicated.
“They have issues to clear up that come from a long relationship as well as her role in his professional life,” the source says.

“She will still be in Jupiter, and we will see what happens," the source adds.

A second source close to the situation tells PEOPLE Belichick purchased a home last year in Jupiter, Florida, where Linda is from and not far from where the couple reportedly met in Palm Beach.
“Linda is a lovely person. Bill bought a house in Jupiter for himself and Linda, but now she will get the house,” the source adds.
Linda is the mother of adult twin daughters, Ashley and Kat Hess, both 30, from a previous relationship. The twins are based out of Boston, according to their jointInstagramaccount.
