She ’s been honk in the upcoming Black Widowsolo movieopposite Scarlett Johansson and , according toThe Hollywood Reporter , will play “ a spy on the same level as [ Natasha ] Romanoff , belike her moral opposite word . ”
That still does n’t give us an idea if the Widow moving picture is a prequel , as most of us carry , or a sequelto Avengers : Endgame , but it ’s nice to acknowledge that Natasha is going to have a worthy opponent to showdown with no matter what .
Pugh may be a newcomer to most , but she ’s about to have a huge year . Besides star in that excellent ( seriously , I imply it ) wrestling biopic , she ’s a chief character inthe new Ari Aster movieMidsommer as well as the star - stud Little Women remaking , alongside Meryl Streep , Emma Watson , and Saorise Ronan . In fact , Ronan wasreportedlyone of the many actressesup for this recent role , but Pugh won out .
Black Widowwill be engineer byCate Shortland and starts filming in June , at which dot we ’ll know if Widow survived Endgame or not . And though there ’s no spillage appointment , it ’ll be the first Marvel film to go into yield since the completion of Far From Home — so it could end up fulfill the studio ’s May 2020 release slot , though that ’s risky . It would be a tight turnabout .
