Dancing with the Starsis coming back to the ballroom.

During the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour on Tuesday, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke announced that the reality dance competition series will be returning for season 28.

“I can confirm that it will definitely be returning in the fall,” Burke told reporters.

AlthoughDWTShas occasionally aired two seasons annually — spring and fall —PEOPLE confirmedin December that the long-running ABC show would be taking a hiatus and skipping a spring cycle like 2018’sAthletesmini-season.

Bones, 38, himself was surprised to be named champion. Reflecting on his win in November, Bones told reporters that he was “in shock” about taking home the trophy, adding, “I apologized so many times to [Sharna] for getting stuck with me because she’s so good and talented. … It didn’t make sense, but she stuck with me.”

Over the weekend,PEOPLE exclusively reportedthat Burgess, 33, will be taking her dancing talents back home Down Under.

She will be join the Australian version of the reality dancing competition series as its sole female judge, which premieres Feb. 18.

“Having been a pro on America’sDancing with the Starsfor the last 12 seasons, I am so excited to be coming home to bring my knowledge and passion from the U.S. to this stellar line up of Aussie talent!” the Australia native said in a statement about joining Australia’sDancing with the Stars. “I can’t wait to see what these amazing dancers have in store for us all.”

Season 28 ofDancing with the Starswill premiere this fall on ABC.
