Kate Middleton’s favorite blouse has a surprising feature.
Stepping out in Cardiff alongside Prince Williamon Tuesday, Kate pulled off yet another polished pantsuit, one of many the royal has wornin recent weeks.
While the top half of the garment appears to be a soft v-neck blouse, it’s attached to a nylon elastane thong base — the effect of which minimizes the bulk that often gathers around the waistline with a standard blouse. Instead, it creates a streamlined, smooth silhouette with zero adjustments needed.

TheCupro Shirt Bodysuitfrom British brand Holland Cooper (who also designed Kate’s androgynous pinstriped suit) has been a go-to in Kate’s closet since January 2021 when she wore it on a Zoom call to talk to NHS nurses during the pandemic. The bodysuit promptly sold out and has been a bestseller for the brand since.

It’s the perfect blouse to work alongside the plethora of power suits the Princess of Wales has been wearing recently. In a clear style statement, the royal has ditched her fit-and-flare dresses and separates for a very tailored business-like look, which has seen her wear seven pantsuits and two blazers, pant combinations in one month alone.

Kate and William were in Wales to mark the start of Black History Month in the U.K. Arriving with smiles (and fist bumps!) at the Grange Pavillion on Tuesday morning, the couple heard about the contributions of the Windrush generation to the Welsh community and how young minority ethnic individuals are driving positive change in Wales.

Kate’s current love of suits might be familiar to some.Princess Dianaalso had her own shift in style direction at a critical time in her royal life. “Diana had her own trouser suit moment in the late 1980s at a time when she wanted to be taken more seriously,” Bethan Holt, fashion director at the Daily Telegraph tells PEOPLE adding: “She said to designers, ‘I’m sick of these frothy ball gowns – I want to wear menswear’ and she had these fabulous power suit moments.”

Style shifts aside, Kate will no doubt have a steer back in the direction of ballgowns and diamonds if, as expected she attends the state banquet to be held in honor of Yoon Suk Yeol, South Korea’s president in November.
